Bjarni Snæbjörnsson is an accomplished Icelandic actor, performer, and writer. He earned his BFA in acting from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2007, and since then, he has built a diverse and extensive career in the performing arts. His stage credits span a wide range of genres, including classical dramas, comedies, musicals, improv, avant-garde performances, and entertainment. He has also appeared in TV shows, commercials, and films.
A trained singer, Bjarni regularly performs at both private and public events, including stage musicals and collaborations with the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Currently, he is performing in Disney’s Frozen at the Icelandic National Theatre.
Bjarni is a founding member of Perplex Theatre Company, and the company’s latest production, the one-man original musical Good Morning Faggi, was a major success. The show ran for two years in Iceland and enjoyed a full run at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, earning rave reviews. Bjarni co-wrote the musical and was nominated for Singer of the Year at the Gríman Icelandic Performance Awards. Good Morning Faggi was also named one of the top five theatre events of 2021 in Iceland by Morgunblaðið.
In addition to his performance work, Bjarni recently published his first book, Mennska, an autobiographical reflection on the challenges of growing up gay in a predominantly heteronormative Iceland—despite its reputation as a queer-friendly paradise.
Bjarni holds a BA in English from the University of Iceland and an MA in Arts Education. He is fluent in French.
